WHY EMPLOYEES LEAVE ORGANISATIONS ?
- Azim Premji, Wipro
Every company faces the problem of people leaving the company for better
pay or profile.
Early this year, Arun, a senior software designer, got an offer from a prestigious international firm to work in its India operations developing specialized software. He was thrilled by the offer.
He had heard a lot about the CEO. The salary was great. The company had all the right systems in place employee-friendly human resources (HR) policies, a spanking new office, and the very best technology, even a canteen that served superb food.
Twice Arun was sent abroad for training. "My learning curve is the sharpest it's ever been," he said soon after he joined. Last week, less than eight months after he joined, Arun walked out of the job.
Why did this talented employee leave ? Arun quit for the same reason that drives many good people away. The answer lies in one of the largest studies undertaken by the Gallup organization. The study surveyed over a million employees and 80,000
managers and was published in a book called "First Break All The Rules". It came up with this surprising finding:
If you're losing good people, look to their immediate boss.Immediate boss is the reason people stay and thrive in an organization. And he 's the reason why people leave. When people leave they take knowledge, experience and contacts with them, straight to the competition.
"People leave managers not companies," write the authors Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman. Mostly manager drives people away? HR experts say that of all the abuses, employees find humiliation the most intolerable. The first time, an employee may not leave, but a thought has been planted. The second time, that thought gets strengthened. The third time, he looks for another job.
When people cannot retort openly in anger, they do so by passive aggression. By digging their heels in and slowing down. By doing only what they are told to do and no more. By omitting to give the boss crucial information. Dev says: "If you work for a jerk, you basically want to get him into trouble. You don 't have your heart and soul in the job."
Different managers can stress out employees in different ways - by being too controlling, too suspicious, too pushy, too critical, but they forget that workers are not fixed assets, they are free agents . When this goes on too long, an employee will quit - often over a trivial issue. Talented men leave. Dead wood does'nt.
" Jack Welch of GE once said. A company's value lies "between the ears of its employees".

July 7: One Year On
At the remembrance of July-7-2005 Bomb blast violence in a Double decker Bus
(Now no more double decker busses in London).
The first multi-faith service in the long history of London's Westminster Abbey is to be held later today to mark the first anniversary of the July 7 suicide bomb attacks on the British capital.
A shocking news is that a video message from July 7 suicide bomber Shehzad Tanweer has been broadcast on Arab satellite channel al-Jazeera on the eve of the first anniversary of the atrocity.
// The news says "Tanweer, speaking with a Yorkshire accent, is seen in the video wearing a Muslim headscarf and jabbing his finger at the camera.
In an apparent message to the British Government, Tanweer vows that the attacks will continue until troops are pulled out of Iraq and Afghanistan and "you stop your support" for America and Israel.
He says: "What have you witnessed now is only the beginning of a string of attacks that will continue and become stronger until you pull your forces out of Afghanistan and Iraq and until you stop your financial and military support to America and Israel."
Tanweer then refers to the non-Muslims of Britain and says that because they voted for a government which "continues to oppress our mothers, children, brothers and sisters in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq and Chechnya", then they deserve such actions.
The video also features a statement from Ayman al Zawahri, al-Qaeda's second in command, again suggesting a strong link between the bombers and Osama bin Laden's terror network.
Scotland Yard is "aware" of Shehzad Tanweer's suicide video and said the timing of its release "can only cause maximum hurt and distress" to the bereaved families.
Assistant Commissioner Andy Hayman, head of Specialist Operations, said today: "We are aware of the tape and this will form part of our investigation.
"There can be no doubt that the release of the video at this time can only cause maximum hurt and distress to the families and friends of those who died on 7/7 and the hundreds of people who were injured in the terrorist attacks.
"We are sure that the overwhelming majority of all communities are united in condemning any attempt to justify last year's terrorist attacks in London.
"We would like to reassure the public that police are doing all they can to ensure their safety.
"It is important that people continue to go about their daily lives as normal, to do otherwise would mean the terrorist has won."
The only other video testament from any of the four bombers to emerge before today had been from ringleader Mohammad Sidique Khan.
Tanweer is considered by investigators to have been his right-hand man.
Speculation about the existence of a video testament from Tanweer stretched as far back to last September, when Khan's video was first broadcast.
Detectives believe Khan's video could well have been filmed abroad, possibly during his trips to Pakistan, and reports last year suggested Tanweer could have filmed a message at around the same time.
The video is likely to be subject to intensive visual scrutiny and painstaking forensic analysis in the hope it could yield vital clues.
However, the timing of its release is likely to anger relatives of the victims and survivors, still struggling to come to terms with the trauma of the blasts.//

Dabbawala’s just a click away now
The ubiquitous Dabbawala who forms an integral part of Mumbai’s landscape is morphing into a techno savvy businessman, using modern mediums such as mobiles and the internet to market the hugely successful business.
“We have recently launched SMS services for our customers where they can avail our service by sending us a text message. This step was taken after our website received a very good response and people wanted us to be more accessible,” Raghunath Megde president of the Dabbawala union said.
“We have also started using computers to manage records of our customers. Our website enables our customers to place their orders online. On the launch of our SMS sevice, we got 15 new orders on the first day itself,” Manish Tripathi, software consultant, and a part of the project, said.
When asked whether the Dabbawalas were heading towards adopting a more technological frame of business, Medge said “Our logistics system, where we deliver dabbas all over Mumbai, still functions without any technological help, but we feel that we have to use technology to market our business and reach as many people as possible.”
The Dabbawalas’ accurate and precise system of delivering hot home-cooked meals to more than 2 lakh office goers in Mumbai has drawn praise from all over the world, including business schools who want to study their system. Even Prince Charles made it a point to invite them to his second wedding after meeting them in the city in ‘03 during a visit.

Time to Logout
Another infotech firm has decided to call it quits. Bangalore’s rising costs have pushed Texas-based Pervasive Software to shut down its 18-month-old development centre in the city.
This move by the data infrastructure software company, which had over 50 people here, comes within weeks of Apple Computer’s decision to exit Bangalore. Apple’s move too was said to have been guided by cost considerations. Besides, Powergen had last week pulled out of India blaming poor quality of services for its UK customers.
“We are consolidating technical operations for our integration productline in Austin and closing our Bangalore-based subsidiary this month, while still maintaining an India presence through our long-time development partner, Aztec Software,” said Pervasive president and CEO John Farr.
Pervasive — which provides data infrastructure software — had commenced operations in Bangalore when it acquired another Austin-based company Datajunction, which specialised in data integration products.
“The potential cost savings of an off-shore development operation can be mathematically compelling. However, we have found that the complexity of managing such an operation and the increasing costs of labour, employee turnover, training, and facilities in a hot market such as Bangalore make it challenging to ultimately realise those savings,” Farr added.
The company has placed an local manager, Jaisimha Muthegere, as the director of its India software operations. Muthegere had earlier announced that Pervasive would establish a world-class R&D centre in India by recruiting top-level engineers.
He had also said that the centre would focus on product development, including core R&D work, and not just maintenance, to address customer and market needs.
Even in September 2005, the company had reiterated its commitment to India and had announced big expansion plans.
When contacted, Aztecsoft (previously Aztec Software) said this strategic move to shift its captive development centre has no bearing on its long-standing relationship with Pervasive. “Aztecsoft has a six-year-long relationship with Pervasive Software. Over the years, we have developed several of their products and we continue to do so,” an Aztecsoft spokesperson said.

Watching TV

University in New Mexico shows that compulsive TV viewing can leave people feeling lonely and depressed. This is really true when I am in Noida felt the same, depressed in evening. It found that 12% of TV viewing addicts who watch upto 28-40 hrs per week (for me it is double). Found they were unhappy watching the shows but unable to stop themselves.
That is the reason I bought Satellte Radio to avoid watching TV. I was frustrated once started watching TV on a weekend for 2 days continuously ended with the whole weekdays depressed. I don’t think PEPSI TV advertisement is good for health.
Guys, aware the serials are killing the time even NGC, NDTV, CNBC and Animal Planet. Plug out your mind to reading or listening.

Leading Outsourcing Vendors
Forrester evaluated leading outsourcing vendors on their ability to implement IT sourcing deal transformation management across 55 criteria and found that EDS is the clear winner for its current ability to launch sourcing deals and transform customer environments. IBM has strong capabilities and leads with strategy for future supremacy. Because of its balance between current implementation strength and well-articulated future strategy, CSC is the overall leader and is challenging for supremacy in both current offering and strategy (although rumors of acquisition continue to surround the respected firm). Despite companywide troubles with revenue and margin, Capgemini’s current delivery ability helped it hang onto a leadership position. CGI Group is the smallest vendor that we evaluated, but it emerged as a Strong Performer largely because of its ability to satisfy customers. EMEA-based
Atos Origin showed solid reference customer scores but still needs to mature its IT sourcing deal transformation management capability. This report includes an interactive vendor comparison tool that provides detailed service evaluations and customizable rankings.

Moment that I love..
Lying in the bed alone and listening to the rain outside,
Thinking about the person you love,
Taking lonely, long drive on a calm road,
Finding some money in your old jeans just when you needed,
Giggling naughtily,
Holding hands with your friend,
Getting a hug from someone you love,
Moment your eyes filled with tears after a big laugh,
The moment you get wed to your loved one,
The moment you felt the softness of your baby’s fingers.

Oracle Bid for Redhat
Tech Sector shopaholic Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle, seems to be looking for his next fix. This in itself is not unusual, but the fact that he is taking Oracle ‘beyond the brochure’ by considering the purchase of an operating system vendor is cause for reflection. Oracle actually already has a majority stake in a little operation called Miracle Linux. However the database vendor may seek revenge on Linux distributor (distro – in Silicon Valley parlance) Red Hat for winning their battle to acquire open source middleware vendor JBoss. By launching a hostile bid for Red Hat, Oracle would fill the missing pieces needed for the software giant to offer a complete software solution. This will put rivals such as Sap and Microsoft on the back foot. A natural extension of this strategy would be to add hardware to the portfolio. So Sun (for servers) and Dell (for PCs) might consider beefing up their defences.

CSC- The Best
It was 22-April 2004, with smile on face, tears in heart I left CSC-Noida with lot of best wishes. I worked in 5 companies in my work experience and I found CSC is best in work culture and policies. I heard from lot of X-Csc'ians saying that CSC is best ever. It's been 2 years out of CSC though, my memories are still swirling around Sector-62. CSC was my dream company before joining and so now. Thanks a lot to CSC ever and ever. I dunno whether I will go back to CSC or not, however If I get a chance to work with, I am always happy to be and expecting the same at anytime.

Who?
For this Bharuch(Gujarat) village which swears by the game, everyone was glued to their TV sets except for the boy's family and the street where he lives. For them, watching TV is “bad influence.” So as the hows and whens of his first wicket were discussed passionately, both his sisters were in school, his mother, who has never watched her son bowl, kept a roza for his success. His father, a small-time cotton farmer, reluctantly braved the crowd of reporters. He is a textbook success story. From the cotton fields and humble origins to the national team, he is now seen as an inspiration for every farmer’s son in this village to hang onto impossible dreams.
His mother says she is now contemplating buying a TV set. So far, the family didn’t get one as TV viewing is considered a “bad influence” in this religious but not very conservative household. “(We hope to get a TV now) so that we see him play and nothing else,” said the mother, who remembers his 101 in a village game some years ago.
The village has all signs of prosperity, well-laid concrete roads, a playground, mosques, but it is again his family which stands out. The father confesses that the family has seen worse days and occasionally breaks down in disbelief that the once barefoot, lanky son of a farmer, is now actually playing with the cricket greats. Since his success, the only addition in the home is a wooden cabinet displaying his trophies.
Being a farmer's son he is my role model.

Vote Or Get Voted Out
What is the Government doing for us? Why are tax-paying citizens like us, getting taxed further? These thoughts might have crossed my mind many-a-times. We criticize the fall in standards of governance and public life. But we fail to realize that a few simple actions from our part can actually help turn things around. It’s now the time for educated people, like us to actively participate and elect our own representatives.
For a start, let’s begin by exercising our grey cells a little and attempt the quiz, “Get Voting” right now. It’s time to change now…for the better.

Forwarded Mail-1
A father passing by his teenage daughter's bedroom was astonished to see the bed was nicely made and everything was neat and tidy. Then he saw an envelope propped up prominently on the centre of the pillow. It was addressed "Dad". With the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and read the letter with trembling hands:-
Dear Dad,
It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you, but I'm leaving home. I had to elope with my new boyfriend Randy because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you. I've been finding real passion with Randy and he is so nice to me. I know when you meet him you'll like him too - even with all his piercing, tattoos, and motorcycle clothes. But it's not only the passion Dad, I'm pregnant and Randy said that he wants me to have the kid and that we can be very happy together. Even though
Randy is much older than me (anyway, 42 isn't so old these days is it?), and has no money, really these things shouldn't stand in the way of our relationship, don't you agree?
Randy has a great CD collection; he already owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. It's true he has other girlfriends as well but I know he'll be faithful to me in his own way. He wants to have many more children with me and that's now one of my dreams too.
Randy t aught me that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone and he'll be growing it for us and we'll trade it with our friends for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want. In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so Randy can get better; he sure deserves it!!
Don't worry Dad, I'm 15 years old now and I know how to take care of myself. Someday I'm sure we'll be back to visit so you can get to know your grandchildren.
Your loving daughter,
Rosie.
At the bottom of the page were the letters "PTO". Hands still trembling, her father turned the sheet, and read:
PS: Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at the neighbour's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than my report card that's in my desk centre drawer. Please sign it and call when it is safe for me to come home. I love you!

MoBlog
Moblog is a blend of the words mobile and weblog. A mobile weblog, or moblog, consists of content posted to the Internet from a mobile or portable device, such as a cellular phone or PDA. Moblogs generally involve technology which allows publishing from a mobile device.
Much of the earliest development of moblogs occurred in Japan, among the first countries in the world where camera phones (portable phones with built-in cameras) were widely commercially available.
I swear that it will take some time to moblog(atleast for me also I am not sure that Indian Mobile Service Providers has this facility)
Next Blog generation.

Basic Instinct-2

There are lot more impressed other than hot scenes in Basic Instinct-1(rel:1992), Style of Sharon's triger the cigerrette, the helicopter view of carved lush green sea shore mountain road, gutts of sharon, the beutiful villa next to sea. Still those iceberg murders are coming to the eyes. Basic Instinct-2 was released couple of days before. David is the hero instead of M.Douglous. Sharon become very old, able to recognise from her TV report. So what, at any how I am going to watch the movie. How about you?
10 points to get a job
Every working will have this, this is the key area to get the job and able to negotiate. Sometimes it screw your search. do you what I am writing about? yes it is resume. I found few points through web page which is a Ctrl-C&V
1. Put your experience first. It counts for far more than your educational background. If you don't have professional experience, write about the projects that you've done on your own time. Be detailed, and be specific. And if you have no professional experience, and you haven't done any projects on your own, dammit, do some. Show a little initiative.
2. Include contact information. Put your name, your address, your phone number, your email address, your fax number, your brother's fax number, and the name of the grocery store where you shop. Give them a way to get in touch with you. You would be amazed, truly AMAZED at how many resumes I have seen over the years that did not have anything but a name. No address, no phone number, nothing.
3. About your name... Well, even though I just told you to put it on your resume, exercise some common sense if you have one of those wacky names. For example, if your name is "Dick Hare," you really ought to think about going by "Richard."
4. Don't use clip art pictures of little dancing elves on your resume. The use of pictures of flying monkeys is also generally frowned upon.
5. Don't use stupid fonts. I hate those damn "ye merrie olde england" fonts. Trust me, everyone who reviews resumes all day long hates screwy fonts.
6. Don't add things to your resume unnecessarily. For example, if you were creating a list of some sort, it would be a bad idea to add something goofy just so that you had a list of ten things instead of a list of nine. I would never do that. Really. I swear.
7. Don't put your naked picture on your resume. That is, don't do it unless you are a gorgeous, nubile adult female. And even then, you have to be careful about not misusing it. In fact, it's really difficult to gauge when this is appropriate. I'm probably the only person who knows how to tell. Therefore, the only way to really know whether or not your naked picture should be on the resume is to send it to me, and I'll, uh, let you know. Yeah, that's what I'll do. I'll, uh, review it.
8. Proofread, poofread, poofread. Be sure to catch and correct all spelling errors, grammatical weaknesses, unusual punctuation, and inconsistent capitalization. Proofread it numerous times. And yes, I know that "proofread" is misspelled twice in this paragraph. It's a joke. I'm a funny little bastard.
9. Don't use those accent mark thingies. Sure, I know that the word "resume" is supposed to have one of those little marks over the final "e," but that is a pain in the ass, and not only do I not want to put it there myself, I kinda resent the fact that anyone else would put it there.
10. Don't say that you are looking for "an easy job which won't require bathing."
Thanks : www.i386.info
Import Apple to India
"This cannot be true, can it? Apple wouldn't be this stupid"
"What? I spent $300+ for Apple CareT and they do this?"
"I know it is about saving money, but BAD MOVE Apple! Let's hope you do a better job in picking personnel than the other companies I've deal with"
"Awesome! No I can talk to " John in India who just got done watching Seinfield episodes to learn how to be more American"
These are all the comments found in Newspaper and blogs when Apple decides to outsource their support to India. Steve is also planned to Visit India-bangalore in this mid of the month. So guys be ready whoever having iPod will get support in Indian-Ameroco Accent later you talk with them in Hindi. I have a Compaq Laptop and faced a problem in Hard disk. So I called 1-800-,... toll free number. I know at any cost the call will be landed in India, (I worked in backbone team for a Compaq-HP Call center couple of years before). The guy started with opening script that "Thank you for calling Compaq, a part of HP. My Name is Jerome, how may I assist you" with Americo-Indian Accent. I started talking in Tamil that I know about it is landed in a Chennai based call center. First he resists and annoyed when I started in Tamil. Later he started speaking in Tamil. So they pretend to be American guy as there is need for it. It might happen for Apple also.

Weekend
It was a amazing weekend, done nothing other than watching TV and reading news paper. Few news are really surprising. One is that an IIM-B guy has a got a offer from Barclays Capital, Uk and offered a record breaking salary of $1,93,000 pa. Prior to this offer the highest paid was $1,84,000/-. Being an economic country guy It is a wonder for me and no wonder all IIMians will get abroad offer at one fine day.
Other was the great performance by South African Cricketers. When Australia scored 434-4, I just changed the channel and started watching movies and songs. it happend to go back to the channel when got bored with Songs and movies. Started jumping after looking at the score. they chased the huge runs ever before and snatched the Series. At the same time, on friday 4th match was also good and Aussies put lot of efforts to rule the series. SA deserves this victory and remains the World Cup Semi-final match who lost the match in only one Simple run. Though Anil Kumble's hit the Headlines, it was made nothing special as Murali at 600+ and my favourite Shane on 649. All the Best kumble chase the count, it is not a big deal for you. Look at the huge score ever made in Cricket ODI and chased to victory.

College Days

Remembering my Class mates, after few years.
My eyes were filled with tears,
Everyone now is busy a lot,
No One escaped destiny's plot.
Project reviews to campus interviews,
Nicknames to last bench games,
Cultural rehearsaks to love proposals,
Shot tern crashes/crushes to class room blushes.
Everything is fresh in our mind,
Wish life could Just rewind,
Let's laugh, play and rejoice,
Once again become college guys.
Chatting and laughing, we all were elation(some tears and bleedy too),
Till the painfull moment of separation,
When it was time to part,
We returned with a heavy heart.
Today life is full of commitments,
And too many worries,
But those cherished moments,
Will live forever in our Memories.

Google Page Creator
Google has launched a new product - Google Page Creator, a free, easy, browser-based tool for creating attractive web pages.
Google maintains that Google Page Creator has been designed with ease-of-use in mind. Its interface enables users to edit and create pages just as they appear online, without knowledge of HTML or other computer programming languages. Combined with a simple one-step publishing process, users can create attractive, functional web pages in minutes - hosted by Google for free.
Google Page Creator is a web-based tool - that means no download is necessary. Users need only visit http//pages.google.com, and sign in using their Gmail account to begin creating and publishing their own web pages.
Google Page Creator will be available on Google Labs, but the search giant has decided to limit the number of page sign-ups in order to provide users with an optimal publishing experience. The company holds that due to extraordinary demand, it recently reached that limit so they've temporarily paused additional sign-ups.
Users may check the Google Page Creator website regularly for updates or submit their email address to a wait list, and Google will contact them when they have the capacity to support additional users.

One Night @ the Call Center
Before giving a review on this book let you know how I read Chetan Bagath's 1st boot FIVE POINT SOME ONE. I bought this book couple of books before and read on January 06. I started reading 5.someone, before my train started. I was very serious for some time and started laughing loudly, most of the people in the place where looking strangely, though I cant avoid my laugh. It put me into all feelings, at the end tears about to roll my eyes. So I liked that book and my journey. I completed 5.Someone in one journey and closed it before reaching my home.
So the hype to 2 heavy as I seen the book in the roadside shop with Junker. I preferred Junker to buy 5.Someone and I bought One Night @ the Call Center. As I urged to read the book at the same night to feel as it is. The nearly 300 page book is extremely racy and also engaging. It is all the more interesting because the novel is centered on the contemporary world of India’s new generation. Book started well with Chetan's style. After the introduction, story started felt like in a call center (I worked in Call center for 11 months in hectic shifts, so I know the pain)
I was keen on knowing what Chetan will say in this book about an only one night and what will be interested in one night. Again very few characters in this story, will some simulation and feelings. Delhi’s (esp.: gurgaon) culture is away from Indian culture; this book opened the all pages of Call Center Culture in Delhi (Welcome to Western Culture, where is very fast adopted). Having 2 or more girl friends (vice versa for girls) loosing verginity.hhaaaaa we are in India?
The novel starts with the meeting of Chetan Bhagat and a young lady in a train and she tells him the story of a night at the call center in Delhi on the condition that it would be his next book. The story is viewed through Shyam, a call center agent and a tame team leader and it revolves on him, his colleagues Varun, Esha, Radhika, his girl friend Priyanka and an aged Military Uncle. Book is good, at the same time I am not convinced in few areas. Chetan you would not have accepted with Swirly Curly.
You know what is one line where Chetan got stuck
"God given a call to us in that night"

FAB
The first-ever Fab (factory fabrication model) City, once set up, will act as a catalyst that would propel India onto the global chip manufacture map. In November, SemIndia announced the setting up of India's first-ever fab, an assembly-test-mark-pack (ATMP) plant that would offer services to manufacturers of integrated circuits.
Announcing this on Thursday at the two-day Indian Semiconductor Association (ISA) business conference here, Union IT minister Dayanidhi Maran said SemIndia, an NRI consortium working with the Indian government, has zeroed in on Hyderabad.
"Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu were solid contenders but AP won SemIndia over," Maran said. Asked why Karnataka lost out despite it being a forerunner, Maran threw up his hands, laughing: "Don't ask me. Ask the SemIndia people; they had the final say."
More seriously, he said Karnataka's response was "too slow" and Tamil Nadu's "lukewarm". "Andhra Pradesh moved faster, provided 1,200-acre land, water, subsidised electricity, and lined up investors who would bring in $1 billion in equity to set up the facility."
Chipmaker AMD is an active participant in the venture and this fab would augment its regional assembly and test requirements.Interestingly, Intel is also in talks with India on a similar project.
It is a welcome News to Gowda's Family Ruling style. Similar JJ style of loosing project to TN.

Race on 10K
I remember in my earlier earning time, I was having a ambition to get my salary in 5 digits, After 9/11, I thought of going back to my farm and do agriculture and start milk bizness with altered Willys Jeep. Some how my previous company managed to retain me and releaved when I got a good opening. Similar kind of scenario for India Stock market today.
When Sachin and Shewag opened for India first ODI with Pakis, the Sensex has hit an all time high of 10,031 with a gain of 52 points. It is a tragedy that none of the public knows about this and they were sunk in TV for match. Anyway Monday was not good for Indian cricket fans rather Investers in India.
While I hear experts showing apprehension about another stock market scam, the finance minister and Sebi keep assuring us of fair play. Time will only tell if it's for real or this 10K mark is just an illusion. What is more alarming is the speed at which sensex is scaling newer heights. The way things are moving, I guess soon the sensex will cross 20K barrier.

Kama Sutra
It is not a Porn related blog, it is a Virus which is going to affect your Computer tommorrow(Feb-3-06)
Details: Sex sells and the new internet worm (Nyxem-E) nick-named the "Kama Sutra worm" because it spreads under the guise of pornographic content, has leap-frogged lesser viruses reaching top-spot on world virus charts.
Nyxem-E aka Kama Sutra is a mass-mailing worm which attempts to disable security-related and file-sharing software and destroys files of certain types. When run on a Windows PC, the worm copies itself to shared network locations, and sends itself to e-mail addresses found on the target computer. Nyxem-E, according to F-Secure, is programmed to disable anti-virus and firewall software, and delete certain files including Office documents, on the third day of every month.
The Kama Sutra worm arrives as an e-mail attachment, with different subject lines including "School girl fantasies gone bad," "The Best Videoclip Ever," "A Great Video," "give me a kiss," "Fwd: Photo," "Fw: Sexy," "You Must View This Videoclip!" "Miss Lebanon 2006," etc. The text differs; it may include references to the Kama Sutra - the ancient Sanskrit book on sex and related matters.

Who is He?
He was short. He was sharp. He was the brightest boy in his class. His seniors would ask him to solve their difficulties in Science. He could have go unnoticed in the crowd, but once you asked him a question related to Physics or Maths, there was a spark in his eyes. He could grasp theories of Science faster than the speed of light.
He came from a poor but educated family. His father was a high-school teacher and an avid reader of english literature. He, like all the boys in the class was trying to get admission into some engineering college. The brighter ones wanted to study in he Indian Institutes of Technology, or the IIT's. There was an entrance test for IIT.This boy, along with his friends applied to appear for the test. They did not have any special books or coaching. All these IIT aspirants would sit below the shade of a stone mantap close to Chamundi hills in the sleepy town of Mysore. He was a guide for others. While the others struggled to solve problems in the question paper, he would smile shyly and solve them in no time. He sat below a tree and dreamt of studying at IIT.He was then only sixteen years old.
D-Day came.He came to Bangalore, stayed with some relatives and appeared for the entrance test. He did very well but would only say "OK" when asked. It was the opposite when it came to food...."OK" implied bad, "good" implied ok, and "very good" implied good!! His principle was never to hurt anyone.
The IIT entrance resutls came. He had passed with flying colors and the hightest rank. He was thrilled! He went to his father who was reading a newspaper.
"Anna, I have passed the exam"
"Well done, My Boy".
"I want to join IIT".
His father stopped reading the paper. He lifted his head, Looked at the boy and said with a heavy voice "You know our financial position, and I cannot afford your expenses at IIT. You can stay in Mysore and learn as much as you want".His father was sad that he had to tell the bitter truth, but it could not be helped.
The teenager was dissappointed. He was so near to fulfilling his fondest dream , yet so far.His heart sank in sorrow.
He did not reply. He never shared his unhappines with anyone. He was an introvert by nature. His heart was bleeding but he did not get angry with anyone.
The day came, his classmates were leaving for Madras(today called Chennai). They were leaving from Mysore to Chennai. They had shared good years at school and he went to wish them good luck for their future. At the station his friends were already there. They were excited and discussing their new hostels, new courses etc. So he stood there silently. One of his friends noticed and said "You should have made it"
He did not reply. He just wished them. He stood there even after he could no longer see the train or the waving hands. It was June 1962 in Mysore city. Yet he stood there motionless.
He said to himself, without anger or jealously, "All students from the IIT's study well and do big things in life. But it is not the institution, ultimately it is you and you alone who can change your life by hard work".

Not for Sale
What stops Infosys or TCS from bidding for CSC and ACS, asks a columnist in an article in an Indian newspaper, as the two North American vendors are now on sale?
So far, Indians have not relied too much on inorganic growth path. Of late, however, most of them have started acquiring companies onshore, though on a smaller scale.
With private equity firms pitching in to tie up, is it finally time for Indian companies to go big time?
Not for Sale
Affiliated Computer Services has issued an official statement that it is not selling out. It says that "recent unsolicited discussions with a group of private-equity investors regarding a possible sale of the company have ended."
The company says it has been considering alternatives to enhance shareholder value, but has ruled out a sale of the company.

Times Now & TV18
I remember those days when I was in Delhi; TOI contains lot of HOT news in the newspaper itself with a paper with local news (eg: Delhi Times), which was more interesting than the Main Paper. Junker & Cogito have mentioned about this paper already.
India Times (Times of India) has started their own Channel in India with the help of Reuters named as TIMES NOW. Announcement says that this channel is going to be a News Channel. Slogan of this Channel is FEEL THE NEWS. We already felt the news in Paper and enjoyed cracking jokes on it. Anyway, we welcome the Idea of TOI for getting the help of Reuters to Compete with CNN.
IBN Live is apparently a news channel from TV18 and CNN. Rajdeep Sardesai, The Big Fight guy left NDTV and leading this channel. From their site, IBN seems to be a pro-blog channel as they are calling for Citizen Journalists and an exclusive blog microsite from the journalists.
Nice to know, the TV media is going the blog way for GLOBAL News and let our people will come out of watching tearful Serials and bull shit movies/songs.
Welcome TOI & TV18 to the biggest Way and let join hands for Congratulate them.

Confidence

Got this forwarded Joke. Enjoy!
Hypothetical situation where 20 executives board an airplane and are
told that the flight that they are about to take is the first-ever to
feature pilotless technology: It is an uncrewed aircraft. Each one of
the CEOs is then told, privately, that their company's software is
running the aircraft's automatic pilot system. Nineteen of the CEOs
promptly leave the aircraft, each offering a different type of xcuse.
One CEO alone remains on board the jet, seeming very calm indeed.Asked
why he is so confident in this first uncrewed flight, he replies: "If
it's the same software that runs my company's IT systems, this plane
won't even take off."
This is called Confidence!

Spam - Unbelievable
Yesterday I got a mail from Cernar for some product promotion. He just referred the group name, as I am one of the member of the group I got the mail. Later When I am trying to sign for the product by providing my mail address, prompted for my mail address (options are Yahoomail, Hotmail, Gmail and....). At that I have given my yahoo account.
Next question is that to provide my Yahoo Password. I was bit surprised that How a spam mails will use my Yahoo creditials, as it has to go through a Authentication in Yahoo. Anyway I provided my password, next step was really shocking, after getting my credentials the web shown the total address in my address List.
I am bit confused after this how they are accessing Yahoo address from external sources.. if it is happening to Yahoo also for Hotmail. Very smart and professional.
So guys beware! Dont provide any password for any spam tools

Banumathi

Veteran actress Banumathi passed away, she is a legend, have a look at LIFE SKETCH OF PADMASHRI DR.BANUMATHI RAMAKRISHNA
Seventh September 1925: the auspicious day when Padmashri Dr.Bhanumathi Ramakrishna, illustrious Actress, Directress, Music Director, Songstress and Writer was born in Ongole(Prakasam District of Andhra Pradesh) . Her father Mr.Bommaraju Venkatasubbiah was a staunch lover of classical music and well versed in all fine arts.
Dr. Bhanumathi is a born artiste, inheriting music from her parents and received sound training in music and histrionics from her father. Producer-Director Mr.C.Pulliah a pioneer of Telugu Film Industry and a friend of Mr. Venkatsubbiah introduced her to the Telugu Film line at a very early age of 13.
Her first picture was "VARAVIRAYAM" an anti dowry subject in those days, which was a great success. The film was produced by Mr. Chamaria, of East India Studio in Calcutta, thus exposing her to pioneering film making company in her very first film. Since then she has worked in over 100 pictures in almost all the languages of South India and also in Hindi. Dr.Bhanumathi proved that at a time when family girls were not inclined to act in films, by acting in films she proved that even respectable family girls can act in films.
She is the only lady in India, may be even in the whole world; who is a Studio Owner, Producer, Directress, Writer, Music Director and also a great singing cine-artiste. She was married to Sri P.S.Ramakrishna Rao, a film producer, Director and Editor of Telugu and Tamil Films on 8 th August 1943.

In 1950, Bhanumathi - Ramakrishna couple launched their own Studio, Bharani Studios. The first film "CHANDI RANI" was written and directed and acted in duel role by her in three languages Tamil, Telugu and Hindi 1953 and released simultaneously all over India, for which she got awards. Her first Hindi picture Gemini's "NISHAN" was released in 1950 and was a jubilee picture.
Dr.Bhanumathi was the first lady recipient of State Honours in 1956, when Andhra Pradesh State was formed. She received the National Awards as Best Actress for her acting in "ANNAI" (Tamil), "ANTHASTULU" (Telugu), and "PALANTI YUDDHAM" (Telugu).

She is fondly called by her Tamil Admirers as "Ashtavadhani". (A Poet who can answer eight questions at a time).
In 1966, she was conferred with the National Honour of "PADMASRI" by the Government of India, Andhra Pradesh Sahitya Academy awarded her as the best short story writer for her popular short stories "ATTAGARI KATHALU". She is the only popular lady humorous short story writer, who has continued the tradition of Gurujada Appa Rao and Muni Manickam Narasimma Rao.
In the International Women's year 1975, another new laurel of Honourary Doctorate Degree was conferred by the Andhra University on her as an author and a veteran artiste. Tsunami- 1 Year

It's been a whole one year, after the Tide waves devastated South Indian Coastal areas. This Tsunami was not only wave who had given problems, later Sea started acting differently. Continuous depressions made tamilnadu under water, 2 or more storms were really made fisherman who are all staying in Coastal areas difficult to survive on believing only Sea.
What lesion we learnt from Tsunami. We are talking about globalization in economy why can’t we talk about global environment (warming, warning) also. We can’t stop Tsunami's kind of natural devastation, however what precautionary has be taken for the future? Is Tsunami Warning system ready at least after a year? The answer is big NO. As per NDTV report people are ready to protect themselves by mentally, but Govt is not ready.
We have to be thankful for the Collectors Gagan Deep Singh especially Mr. Radha Krishnan who is delicately worked for people last year, also the people and celebrities who donated for the welfare.
Also we have to thankful to AR Rahman and Team (Hariharan, 'Drums' Sivamani, Chinmayi, Karthik) who made a simple concert in Karaikal after a Year. (No laser lighting effects, no big stage with a flashy back ground, no big speakers) it was very difficult to assume this environment for the world famous AR Rahman's concert in Karaikal-Tamil Nadu. Hats off to them.
Media only made aware of Tsunami, this year Tamil channel not even bothered that this day is the Observing Tsunami Anniversary. Only NDTV is keep on shouting and showing what is happening in Tamil Nadu. None of the Tamil channels is having a special programmed about Tsunami. Shows that people in TN forget things very fastely that is the reason why TN is always depend on the Politicians. Vazhga Tamizagam.!

BPO rape, murder clouds Bangalore

Just adding to my Previuos Blog now it is turn for safely driving with others.
The rape and murder of a call centre employee, a 24-year-old woman, by a person pretending to be the late night driver of her company transport has sent a chill down the spine of the BPO industry in Bangalore.
About the Tragedy: On December 13, newly wed Pratibha, an employee of HP Globalsoft, located at the Electronics City, went missing. She was picked up at 1.50 am (for her 2.30 am shift) from her residence at Kumaraswamy Layout, nearly 25 km from her office, by a driver claiming to be a substitute.
On Friday morning(16-12-2005), after the police tracked down the driver—using Pratibha’s cell phone records—they found her body dumped in a grove on the outskirts of Bangalore.
Police investigations have revealed that the 28-year-old accused Shivakumar, one of 60 drivers from SRS Transport which services HP Globalsoft, called Pratibha on her mobile phone on the evening of December 13 to tell her that he would be coming to pick her up in place of her regular driver Jagadish.
An unsuspecting Pratibha agreed and was seen off by her mother-in-law boarding the vehicle driven by Shivakumar. Minutes later Pratibha’s regular vehicle arrived at her home and found that she had already been picked up. When the regular driver, Jagadish, called Pratibha on her cell phone to verify, she informed him that she had already been picked up and handed the cell phone to Shivakumar who told Jagadish that he had been asked to pick up Pratibha.
Jagadish informed the time office at HP that Pratibha had been picked up by vehicle number 405—the number provided by Shivakumar. According to statements given to the police by Shivakumar, since his nabbing on Thursday night, he took Pratibha to a desolate place on the Kanakapura Road, leading out of Bangalore, raped her at knife-point, and slit her throat.
Prathiba who got married in February this year had been employed with HP Globalsoft for the past six months.
From Shivakumar’s mobile phone records, the police have found that he had also called two other girls the same night with the same story. The girls, however, refused to board his vehicle after they reportedly checked with the company and found that no replacement was being sent.
Now everybody has started talking about the safety measures and driving standard. These may help however the people who are driving also have to have some sense. This is my point of view of DO's and Dont's.
1. Consider Cab drivers as a human being.(esp. for girls)
2. Dont do the makeups in CAB itself.
3. Maintain a gap with others. As per CAB Drivers, lot of couples utilising CABs for their privacy.
4. Boys has be the first person on Pickup and drop.
5. Parents will drop them during the pickups(atleast verify the cab)
"There are so many migrants in Bangalore who are dependent on BPOs for a living," - Karnataka Govt give a safety to those people.

Driving in Bangalore / India
Few of us know the difference in foreigners and us on driving, Let we hear something about our driving and traffic sense. This hilarious article was written by a Dutchman who spent two years in Bangalore, India, as a visiting expert. A little long article but worth reading!!!
For the benefit of every Tom, Dick and Harry visiting India and daring to drive on Indian roads, I am offering a few hints for survival. They are applicable to every place in India except Bihar, where life outside a vehicle is only marginally safer.
Indian road rules broadly operate within the domain of karma where you do your best, and leave the results to your insurance company. The hints are as follows: Do we drive on the left or right of the road? The answer is "both". Basically you start on the left of the road, unless it is occupied. In that case, go to the right, unless that is also occupied. Then proceed by occupying the next available gap, as in chess. Just trust your instincts, ascertain the direction, and proceed. Adherence to road rules leads to much misery and occasional fatality. Most drivers don't drive, but just aim their vehicles in the generally intended direction.
Don't you get discouraged or underestimate yourself except for a belief in reincarnation; the other drivers are not in any better position. Don't stop at pedestrian crossings just because some fool wants to cross the road. You may do so only if you enjoy being bumped in the back.
Pedestrians have been strictly instructed to cross only when traffic is moving slowly or has come to a dead stop because some minister is in town. Still some idiot may try to wade across, but then, let us not talk ill of the dead.
Blowing your horn is not a sign of protest as in some countries. We horn to express joy, resentment, frustration, romance and bare lust (two brisk blasts),or just mobilize a dozing cow in the middle of the bazaar. Keep informative books in the glove compartment. You may read them during traffic jams, while awaiting the chief minister's motorcade, or waiting for the rainwater to recede when over ground traffic meets underground drainage.
Occasionally you might see what looks like a UFO with blinking colored lights and weird sounds emanating from within. This is an illuminated bus, full of happy pilgrims singing bhajans. These pilgrims go at breakneck speed, seeking contact with the Almighty, often meeting with success.
Auto Rickshaw (Baby Taxi): The result of a collision between a rickshaw and an automobile, this three-wheeled vehicle works on an external combustion engine that runs on a mixture of kerosene oil and creosote. This triangular vehicle carries iron rods, gas cylinders or passengers three times its weight and dimension, at an unspecified fare. After careful geometric calculations, children are folded and packed into these auto rickshaws until some children in the periphery are not in contact with the vehicle at all. Then their school bags are pushed into the microscopic gaps all round so those minor collisions with other vehicles on the road cause no permanent damage. Of course, the peripheral children are charged half the fare and also learn Newton's laws of motion enroute to school. Auto-rickshaw drivers follow the road rules depicted in the film Ben Hur, and are licensed to irritate.
Mopeds: The moped looks like an oil tin on wheels and makes noise like an electric shaver. It runs 30 miles on a teaspoon of petrol and travels at break-bottom speed. As the sides of the road are too rough for a ride, the moped drivers tend to drive in the middle of the road; they would rather drive under heavier vehicles instead of around them and are often "mopped" off the tarmac.
Leaning Tower of Passes: Most bus passengers are given free passes and during rush hours, there is absolute mayhem. There are passengers hanging off other passengers, who in turn hang off the railings and the overloaded bus leans dangerously, defying laws of gravity but obeying laws of surface tension. As drivers get paid for overload (so many Rupees per kg of passenger), no questions are ever asked. Steer clear of these buses by a width of three passengers.
One-way Street: These boards are put up by traffic people to add jest in their otherwise drab lives. Don't stick to the literal meaning and proceed in one direction. In metaphysical terms, it means that you cannot proceed in two directions at once. So drive as you like, in reverse throughout, if you are the fussy type. Least I sound hypercritical, I must add a positive point also. Rash and fast driving in residential areas has been prevented by providing a "speed breaker"; two for each house. This mound, incidentally, covers the water and drainage pipes for that residence and is left untarred for easy identification by the corporation authorities, should they want to recover the pipe for year-end accounting.
Night driving on Indian roads can be an exhilarating experience for those with the mental make up of Genghis Khan. In a way, it is like playing Russian roulette, because you do not know who amongst the drivers is loaded. What looks like premature dawn on the horizon turns out to be a truck attempting a speed record. On encountering it, just pull partly into the field adjoining the road until the phenomenon passes.
Our roads do not have shoulders, but occasional boulders. Do not blink your lights expecting reciprocation. The only dim thing in the truck is the driver, and with the peg of illicit arrack (alcohol) he has had at the last stop, his total cerebral functions add up to little more than a naught. Truck drivers are the James Bonds of India, and are licensed to kill. Often you may encounter a single powerful beam of light about six feet above the ground. This is not a super motorbike, but a truck approaching you with a single light on, usually the left one. It could be the right one, but never get too close to investigate. You may prove your point posthumously

Dating
Whether Match will be played as it is planned? Will sachin score a century for the record? Can we get the tickets in time? What Mr. Varuna Bagvan is going to do? Who will be dropped in Place of Ganguly, Kaif or Yuvaraj or Gambir? Will Ganguly score some decent figure(RUNS) to stick into Team again? As told Mr.Pawar is against Ganguly?
Leave all those Q's: I have done a R&D(heheh Browsing only) on a important Topic. This Report is wholly my perception..
What is Dating?

It is a social engagement between two persons that often has a romantic character. The dictionary describes it so differently than what others might think of it as a chance to get to know a person better. Do different cultures have different perspectives on dating? Yes, it does since it includes teens that are young and immature. Parents tend to worry about them when they go out. But why would parents need to worry when they know where their child has gone? They worry because it always makes it hard for them to not worry. It is in our parent’s nature to worry when we go out. Should parents allow their teen to date? No, if the parent(s) think that the child needs to be more responsible and mature then it's OK for them to say no to he/she.
Every culture has different ways of dating. Even though if a teen is mature enough to date say like 18 years or older, some parents might think that dating is not proper even though they are old enough to date. In my opinion I feel that Dating is OK as long as you don't go out without telling anyone, where you are going for your date or you have responsibilities.
Teens who are immature shouldn't be allowed to date unless they can show that they are responsible for their actions. Immature teens always try to prove that they are mature and they are responsible, but the only thing they forget at that time is that one mistake can ruin their life. Some teens are mature for their age. They understand the consequences of dating. In a dating situation people are more excited and happy about what they are doing, but who knows what is really happening. Dating is both bad and good. It is Bad because you don't know what you are doing bad and end up doing something silly. Or sometimes you might not even know much about your date. In other ways it is Good because in that way you get to know who you want in your future and what kind of a guy/girl you want.
I think it is better to wait until you are old enough to think wisely. Why would you want to wait that long? Because if you wait you will be prepared on what's coming, you can think clearly while making decisions, and be responsible. It is not always the case that you should be 18 or older to date.
Being responsible and mature to date is not the only thing. You have to have respect for yourself and others around you. That is the most important thing that you would have to be careful about.
Especially after observing some teens for a long time I have come to a conclusion that teens with caring and loving family have had no problem in their dating life or neither has the parents been too worried. And the teen with working parents is more likely to start dating at a young age without adults' permission
Thanks to Prak for a long Discussion on this Topic

Raja Ravi Verma
Know about Raja Ravi Verma...

Raja Ravi Varma was born on April 29, 1848 at Kilimanoor, a small town in Kerala. As a boy of five, he filled the walls of his house with pictures of animals and illustrations from everyday life. His uncle the artist Raja Raja Varma recognized his talents and gave him elementary art lessons. He was taken to Thiruvananthapuram in his fourteenth year to stay in the royal palace and learn oil painting. During these formative years the young Ravi Varma had many opportunities to discover and learn new techniques and media in the field of painting. His later years spent in Mysore, Baroda ad other parts of the country enabled him to sharpen and expand his skills and blossom into a mature and complete painter.
The glittering career of Raja Ravi Varma is a striking case study of academic art in India. In the year following his death, the ‘Modern Review’ described him as the greatest artist of modern India, a national builder who showed the moral courage of a gifted 'high-born' in taking up the 'degrading profession of painting'. He was courted assiduously by the British Empire as well as by the Indian Maharajas. His less expensive prints of his Hindu deities hung in every home.

Raja Ravi Varma owed his success to a systematic training, first in the traditional art of Thanjavoor, and then in European art. His paintings can be broadly classified into 1.Portraits, 2.Portrait-based compositions, 3.Theatrical compositions based on myths and legends.
Though the artist's immense popularity lay in the third category, the first two types of works prove his merit as an exceedingly sensitive and competent artist. No other painter till today has been able to supersede Ravi Varma in portraiture in the oil medium.
Ravi Varma is considered as modern among traditionalists and a rationalist among moderns. He provided a vital link between the traditional Indian art and the contemporary, between the Thanjavoor School and Western Academic realism. He brought Indian painting to the attention of the larger world.
Raja Ravi Varma breathed his last on 2nd October 1906

History of Yahoo!

Yahoo! began as a student hobby and evolved into a global brand that has changed the way people communicate with each other, find and access information and purchase things. The two founders of Yahoo!, David Filo and Jerry Yang, Ph.D. candidates in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, started their guide in a campus trailer in February 1994 as a way to keep track of their personal interests on the Internet. Before long they were spending more time on their home-brewed lists of favorite links than on their doctoral dissertations. Eventually, Jerry and David's lists became too long and unwieldy, and they broke them out into categories. When the categories became too full, they developed subcategories ... and the core concept behind Yahoo! was born.
The Web site started out as "Jerry and David's Guide to the World Wide Web" but eventually received a new moniker with the help of a dictionary. The name Yahoo! is an acronym for "Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle," but Filo and Yang insist they selected the name because they liked the general definition of a yahoo: "rude, unsophisticated, uncouth." Yahoo! itself first resided on Yang's student workstation, "Akebono," while the software was lodged on Filo's computer, "Konishiki" - both named after legendary sumo wrestlers.
Jerry and David soon found they were not alone in wanting a single place to find useful Web sites. Before long, hundreds of people were accessing their guide from well beyond the Stanford trailer. Word spread from friends to what quickly became a significant, loyal audience throughout the closely-knit Internet community. Yahoo! celebrated its first million-hit day in the fall of 1994, translating to almost 100 thousand unique visitors.
Due to the torrent of traffic and enthusiastic reception Yahoo! was receiving, the founders knew they had a potential business on their hands. In March 1995, the pair incorporated the business and met with dozens of Silicon Valley venture capitalists. They eventually came across Sequoia Capital, the well-regarded firm whose most successful investments included Apple Computer, Atari, Oracle and Cisco Systems. They agreed to fund Yahoo! in April 1995 with an initial investment of nearly $2 million.
Realizing their new company had the potential to grow quickly, Jerry and David began to shop for a management team. They hired Tim Koogle, a veteran of Motorola and an alumnus of the Stanford engineering department, as chief executive officer and Jeffrey Mallett, founder of Novell's WordPerfect consumer division, as chief operating officer. They secured a second round of funding in Fall 1995 from investors Reuters Ltd. and Softbank. Yahoo! launched a highly-successful IPO in April 1996 with a total of 49 employees.
Today, Yahoo! Inc. is a leading global Internet communications, commerce and media company that offers a comprehensive branded network of services to more than 345 million individuals each month worldwide. As the first online navigational guide to the Web, www.yahoo.com is the leading guide in terms of traffic, advertising, household and business user reach. Yahoo! is the No. 1 Internet brand globally and reaches the largest audience worldwide. The company also provides online business and enterprise services designed to enhance the productivity and Web presence of Yahoo!'s clients. These services include Corporate Yahoo!, a popular customized enterprise portal solution; audio and video streaming; store hosting and management; and Web site tools and services. The company's global Web network includes 25 World properties. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif., Yahoo! has offices in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Australia, Canada and the United States.

Kooduthurai
This is a kind of Advertising my own land.
I brought up from a small town called Bhavani(Carpet Town,(Famous for Jamakalam-Carpet), Erode Dist. This temple placed where river Kaveri and Bhavani confluence. I was waiting to taking a picture of this temple(last year both the rivers are dried and rather this year, esp. this month it is flooded). Have glimpse of these pictures.
The Sangameshwar Temple at Bhavani is situated at the confluence of the Rivers Bhavani and the Cauvery. This place is called ‘Tiruveni of South India’(in Tamil Kooduthurai). It is an important pilgrim centre. Lord Sangameshwarer with His consort Vedanayaki is the presiding deity. It is said that during the East India Company regime the then Collector of Coimbatore and Salem Districts, William Garrow, who had his headquarters at Bhavani, worshipped Goddess Vedanayaki. One night the Goddess directed him in his dream to vacate his bungalow immediately. The moment he moved out, the entire bungalow collapsed. He wondered at this miracle and he presented to the temple an ivory cradle, which is still in the temple, with is signature.
In North India, the meeting point of 3 Rivers namely the Ganges, the Jamuna and the Saraswathi is very famous and is called as "TRIVENI SANGAM". Likewise, at Bhavani-Kudal also three rivers viz., the Cauvery, the Bhavani and the Amudha are meeting together. It is, therefore, name as "DAKSHINA PRAYAG". So, the God that persists here is called as "KUDAL NATH" (KUDAL NATHAR) and since three river meet at this place, the name "SANGAMESWARAR" is also in use. Amongst the three rivers, the Amudha river that is not apparent is also significant. Bhavani Kudal is also a place for fate relief centre. People who are affected by various evil elements, take a dip in the river and perform remedial poojas here. As the death ceremony is performed in the Ganges by way of dissolving the ashes after the death of the person and to yield sanctity, the same type of ceremonies are performed here also. The ashes of various leaders and dignitaries were dissolved here. For example, the ashes of the Central Minister Late Rangarajan Kumaramangalam, and the State Level Congress Leader (Late) G.K. Mooppanar were dissolved recently here.

Marketing Concepts

It is not wrong when we are sharing what we enjoyed So Control C and Control V are right sometimes as MS does.
A professor at IIM was explaining marketing concepts:
1. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: "I am
very rich. Marry me!" - That's Direct Marketing
2. You're at a party with a bunch of friends and see a gorgeous girl.
One of your friends goes up to her and pointing at you says: "He's very
rich. Marry him." -
That's Advertising.
3. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and get her
telephone number. The next day, you call and say: "Hi, I'm very rich.
Marry me." - That's Telemarketing.
4. You're at a party and see gorgeous girl. You get up and straighten
your tie, you walk up to her and pour her a drink, you open the door (of
the car)for her, pick up her bag after she drops it, offer her ride and
then say:"By the way, I'm rich. Will you marry me?" - That's Public
Relations
5. You're! at a party and see gorgeous girl. She walks up to you and
says:
"You are very rich! Can you marry ! me?" - That's Brand Recognition.
6. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: "I am
very rich. Marry me!" She gives you a nice hard slap on your face. -
That's Customer Feedback.
7. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: "I am
very rich. Marry me!" And she introduces you to her husband. - That's
demand and supply gap.
8. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you
say anything, another person come and tell her: "I'm rich. Will you
marry me?" and she goes with him - That's competition eating into your
market share.
9. You see and gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you
say: "I'm rich Marry me!" your wi fe arrives. - That's restriction for
entering new markets.

Is IT time to wind up from Bangalore
Last Sunday night, it was impossible to reach the Bangalore airport as the rain pounded the city and the waters were rising. And the infrastructure collapsed completely, leaving vital links to the city disrupted. And angry city residents could do nothing but be patient and wait for situation to normalise.
Check out the photos Click Here
Richmond Circle was a scene straight from hell. Most roads and city's all arteries are clogged.
The rains left many I-T firms inundated. Wipro office was inundated too. Office goers had a tough time.
The rains have wreaked havoc in the IT city at a time when there was a face-off between the Infosys mentor Narayanamurthy and the former Prime Minister H.D Deve Gowda about how the former has been indulging in land-grabbing and has not been concentrating on the Bangalore International Airport.
It began when the Wipro chief Azim Premji first raised an alarm about the deteriorating infrastructure in the city, lack of infrastructure facilities and lack of accommodation facilities. Recently, Bangalore was again in news for its astronomical hotel prices almost as high as London and Paris. With the row between N R Narayana Murthy and Deve Gowda escalating, the AP government has moved into top gear to woo Infosys to Hyderabad. The IT major already has a campus in Hyderabad's hi-tech district Cyberabad, but the Y S Rajasekhara Reddy government is offering it land for a second. "Hyderabad is willing to host a larger Infosys facility," a senior AP government official said.
IT minister Sabita Indra Reddy said an Infosys team has already met Rajasekhara Reddy and sought about 100 acres. "We have agreed," the minister confirmed. Officials said an announcement could come within "ten days." This possibility comes barely two days after Wipro signed a deal with the AP government to set up its second software development centre in Hyderabad "within 12 months".
Under the deal, Wipro has been allotted 100 acres at below-market prices. An AP government team is likely to be active in Bangalore's annual four-day IT event, BangaloreIT.in, next week to win Infosys and other companies fed up with the collapsing infrastructure in the Garden City. "We (AP) are hosting a dinner at the BangaloreIT.in on Oct. 26.
If the Infosys deal is clinched, Wipro and Narayana Murthy's company will be the first IT firms to have a second campus in Hyderabad. Other companies like Microsoft, GE and Oracle have only single units here.
Hyderabad, however, has a long way to go before catching up with Bangalore. This is clear from software export figures. At Rs 8,270 crore in the last financial year, software exports from Hyderabad were less than a third of Rs Bangalore's 27,600 crore.

Farmers profit as ITC sells Himachal apples
Uzhavar Sandhai, a good plan might have dropped in TN govt however the same mode of operation is successful in ITC-IBD. The major concern about this project to reduce the brokerage and increase the profit to Farmer end. Since echoupal is successfull IBD started open their hand widely to move to some other products. They started with APPLEs as an experiment and succeeded in that also. Look at the review from portal

ITC has in collaboration with the state-run Himachal Pradesh Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corp(HPMC) for the first time purchased apples from select farmers and just finished selling them in India's metropolitan centres.
"ITC with help from HPMC procured almost 13,000 boxes of apple valued at around Rs.6 million," said C.R.B. Lalit, the managing director of HPMC.
"The fruit was procured from selected orchards and sold by ITC in selected outlets. ITC paid the farmers immediately. HPMC has been paid a commission of Rs.25 a box for providing local help to ITC," he said.
Many farmers who sold their produce to ITC seem satisfied.
"I got a 30 percent higher price than what the average apple farmers sell at to commission agents in several cities across India," said Ranjeet Mehta, an apple farmer from Kotgarh.
Even though the apple procured by ITC is only a fraction (13,000 boxes, each box weighs around 22 kg) of the total produce of 230 million boxes in the state, many feel this could mark the entry of bigger players into this industry.[Link]

Now its IPOD Turn..

Consumers angry about what they say is the iPod nano screen’s tendency to scratch easily have filed a class-action lawsuit against Apple Computer, saying they want their money back plus a share of the company’s profits on the music player’s sales.
The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of California in San Jose on Wednesday, essentially brings complaints about the ultra-slim device that have been festering on blogs and message boards into the courts.
Apple has sold more than 1 million units of the nano since its launch. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of nano owner Jason Tomczak and others who have purchased the device. The lawsuit alleges Mr. Tomczak rubbed a paper towel on his nano’s face and “that alone left significant scratches.” [Link]

Sivaji-Story

சக்தியெல்லாம் ஒன்று சேர்ந்தாலே!- a one line lyric in CM. It comes very true inthe nest film itself. Film Production Giant AVM, Shanker, and Rajni in New movie. No wonder that the turnover is more that 100 Crores. Is this the story?
Sivaji is an NRI. He is a software engineer. He returns to Tamilnadu. He gets dejected on seeing the plight of education department being made a business commodity. He uses all his savings and property and builds world class free education centers. On approaching various departments to accomplish this, he comes across bribery and corruption. He gives everything to get the task done and finally starts his education centers. When all is about to commence, all the other education center owners who made multi-millions, protest against him. They ask the government to cancel Sivaji's license. The government denies their request. As a result the government loses power and is dismissed. The new government cancels Sivaji's license, and demolishes all education centers. After spending all his money on his dream project, which is now no more, Sivaji is left in the streets with just one rupee.
In this situation, how Sivaji overcomes his enemies and how he realizes his dream project again and says 'How is it?" is the story of Rajini's new movie "Sivaji". Directed by Shankar.
I sure this is not the story of the movie!
Are Jews Smarter?
Did Jewish intelligence evolve in tandem with Jewish diseases as a result of discrimination in the ghettos of medieval Europe? That’s the premise of a controversial new study that has some preening and others plotzing. What genetic science can tell us—and what it can’t. [Link]

Hebbel Lake

Located in Bangalore Outer Ring Road (North West), near by Bellari-Hyderabad Flyover. A quiet nice place to spend leisure time, not much crowded. Boating is also available in the evening timings. Lot of couples(unmarried) are arriving to this place as this is not crowded much, you can find them under each and every tree. Could be decent if you go with friends rather family. I like Ulsoor Lake as it is much connected and cleanliness. Will post some Pictures of Ulsoor lake in another couple of days.
